Are you young, based in Amsterdam and do you dream of a career in nightlife? Join the Heatwave.
Heatwave is a talent development program for emerging talent who are looking for a pathway into the professional nightlife. Whether you're an aspiring DJ, producer, promoter, designer, performer or visual artist, we are here to ignite your creative spark.
We created four different programs where you'll receive guidance, mentorship and support from people who've shaped our community: experts, pioneers, and cultural voices who want to see new talent grow.
Heatwave is supported by the AFK (Amsterdam Fund for the Arts) -Nightculture Project-
and in collaborations with Resident Advisor’s Unlocked, The Social Hub and more t.b.a.
Guidance to your first professional mix, shared on our IsBurning channel paired with insight from other DJ’s towards your first steps into the DJ booth.
A pathway for collectives and creatives who want to realise their own events and parties with hands-on training by professionals with a kick-off introduction class at The Social Hub, in collaboration with Resident Advisor.
For beginning producers who want to take their music to the next level by honing in on their sound and skills and releasing their first track.
A chance to create and present multidisciplinary work at our events or partners for artists who want to show their work to an audience.
FOR WHO IS HEATWAVE ?
Heatwave is for talented young people who want to take a step into nightlife, but who haven’t found their footing yet. Extended references or long resumes are not needed, as we believe everyone with talent and ambition deserves a chance to find an opening in an industry that might be hard to get into.
No education or investment is required from your part, just a drive to turn your passion into a career!
WHY ARE WE DOING THIS ?
Getting into nightlife has become harder to navigate, with expensive spaces, higher costs and a scene that rewards visibility and confidence more than potential.
Many talented young people stay unseen simply because they lack guidance, access or someone to say: come, we see you.
We were welcomed by our community, given resources and opportunities.
Now we want to pass that forward.
WHO IS BEHIND HEATWAVE ?
Heatwave is created by IsBurning, an LGBTQ-led platform founded in 2014 at the legendary TrouwAmsterdam.
